British Values

Here at Northgate High we actively promote the fundamental British values as outlined by The Department for Education.

Individual Liberty

Here at Greyfriars Academy, we actively encourage the children to make choices, knowing that they are in a safe and supportive environment. Pupils are encouraged to know, understand and exercise their rights and personal freedoms and are advised how to exercise these safely; for example, in computing through our E-Safety policy.

Lessons provide many opportunities for children to make choices, for example; learning partners and groups to methods and strategies used to solve problems.

Mutual Respect

Here at Greyfriars, respect features clearly within our behaviour policy and school rules. This is modelled by all members of our school community. Teaching respect is covered across our curriculum, particularly in PSHE and RE. The children are taught about the value of respect and how respect is earned.

Children are encouraged to show respect to each other as well as to our school environment.

As a school, we commemorate key events, particularly around remembrance.

Tolerance of those of Different Faiths and Beliefs

Greyfriars is a diverse community and we make the most of every learning opportunity.

In RE, the children learn about different faiths and develop their understanding of these along with wide range of religious festivals and celebrations.

We welcome a variety of visitors throughout the year from different parts of the globe, who share their cultural experiences with our children.
