In our department we believe in encouraging children to enjoy learning core skills, especially the language of learning: literacy. This remains at the heart of the curriculum and enables children to achieve success in their academic and personal life.
In the English Department we believe in placing the individual child firmly in the centre of our curriculum, making sure that through differentiated task-setting and close monitoring we provide each one with the appropriate framework within which to develop and excel. This approach, coupled with our rigorous and up-to-date curriculum, offers a special, successful learning experience to children of all abilities. Quite simply, we aim to enable every child to achieve the highest levels of National Curriculum requirements in the disciplines of Reading, Writing (including Handwriting and Spelling) and Speaking and Listening.
