Northgate has a long-standing tradition with its fundraising events and activities which Children in Need being one of the big events on the Social Team’s calendar. It is a great way for the school community to come together, have fun, raise awareness and raise valuable funds for such worthwhile causes.
The Social Team did not have long to prepare for Children In Need, but this year with the team headed by Miss Moore, Mr Malin and Miss Lyons, they wanted to come up with a couple of different money raising ideas as well as some of the old favourites. There were posters hung in every corridor, on social media and in PART lessons so that everyone knew what was going on.
The fundraising events included a bake sale, beat the keeper, sumo wrestling, non-uniform day and book swap fair. The cake sale proved very popular as usual with all sorts on offer including flapjacks, cookies, cupcakes, doughnuts and more. Many of the Social Team were on hand to sell the goodies. Beat the keeper brought out the competitive side of both students and the staff who were certainly a target in goal for some of those stepping up to the penalty spot. A new event for this time round was the sumo wrestling. With costumes lent to us by Paul from Premier Parties, students gathered to watch those brave enough to have a go at wrestling. It was a sight to behold with Miss Moore even deciding to have a go!
A big thank you to all who took part in events, organised the events or contributed in on way or another. We were extremely proud to raise £919.96 in total. We look forward to the Social Team’s next big event which is Comic Relief in March.Â
