After helping out at Grove House Infant’s and King’s Park Infant’s Summer fairs last term, Northgate Council members were invited back, this time to help at the Christmas Fairs. They jumped at the opportunity and 16 pupils travelled to the schools across the two dates. There were lots of very excited children all with their pennies ready to spend on the various stalls.
At Grove House on 1st December, Santa’s grotto was extremely popular with long queues and children eager to see the ‘Big Man’ and receive their present. Sean and Caitlin were on hand to help in the grotto. Dee and Hannah manned the lucky dip and guess the name of the teddy whilst Ryan and Jimmy were on the very popular cake stall. Finally Clarabelle and Abbie were in charge of the sweet jar tombola which also proved to be incredibly popular. It wasn’t too long before they were sold out.
At King’s Park on 15th December, Kayla and David helped out on the tombola. There were a huge number of prizes available including chocolate, biscuits and drink, they soon had an empty table with lots of money in the tin! Abbie and Reanna were in charge of the cakes this time with lots of homemade buns and biscuits to choose from. Beth and Natasha looked after the ‘snowman poop’ and ‘reindeer poo’ which got a few laughs from parents in particular. Finally Rhiannon and Rhys helped with the guess the number of baubles in the tub game.
Overall, both events seemed to run very successfully, raising lots of money for the schools. It was a privilege to be invited and as usual, our Northgate students were a real credit to the school. They enjoyed seeing all the young children and getting into the festive spirit.
