We love to hear about the successes of our students, many of whom take part in activities outside of school whether this be in sport, dance, drama, music or something else. The effort and dedication shown is incredible.

Mr Phillis, Head of PE, tells us about two of our students and their efforts in sporting competitions over the Easter holidays.

‘Over the Easter holidays Joe, Year 11, competed in a golf tournament for Norfolk U18s against Leicestershire and Bedfordshire in a triangular scratch match play competition called the B.U.T Trophy. The competition was held at Great Yarmouth and Caister Golf Club. It involved an 18 hole foursomes match in the morning which he won 6 & 5 against Leicestershire and won 2 & 1 against Bedfordshire. In the afternoon it was singles match play where he also won both matches beating Leicestershire 5 & 4 and beating Bedfordshire 2 & 1. Joe’s performances helped Norfolk to come second unfortunately losing out to Bedfordshire by 2.5 points. Congratulations Joe!

Also, over the Easter break Year 7 pupil Ruby competed in the East Anglia Junior Tennis Open. Ruby had to play 3 matches to get to the final, winning the Under 12 singles competition. Not satisfied with this achievement she also competed in the doubles event, again winning the Under 12 final. To finish the day off Ruby competed in the Under 14 singles, finishing runner up. Her performances in this event have pushed her national ranking up 16 places to 45th and she now is Norfolk number 1 at Under 12 level. Great achievement Ruby!’
