On Monday 3rd December Mrs Smith from the Maths Department headed to Beeston Primary School with 9 eager Year 7s to run a Maths morning for students from reception up to year 6. The morning was split into three activities each taking part in different rooms.
Niall commented, ‘Some of the year 7s went to Beeston Primary school. Activities included marshmallow shapes, memory games and a sorting activity. The three houses competed against each other (Cromer, Wells and Holkham). We stayed until lunch.’
Bonnie said, ‘We went to Beeston Primary school and we helped with various Maths activities. It was a competition between the three houses; Wells, Holkham and Cromer. We sorted shapes into Venn diagrams, did a memory game and made 3d shapes with straws and marshmallows. I adopted the blue house, Holkham. It was a very close score and Wells won overall.
Mrs Smith commented on how superb the Year 7s were at explaining confidently what students had to do for each of the activities and also running them. We’re sure Beeston teachers and students wish to say a big thank you to Mrs Smith and the Year 7s for a great morning. We certainly look forward to hearing about this being delivered in other local primary schools.
